Eastern Samar Roads Continue to be a Problem
April 28th, 2008 | by Ced Solidon |More than a year after he has written the Thousand Lakes article, Cyrain Cabuenas of Inquirer Visayas has seen no change in the condition of the roads in Eastern Samar.
In his April 26 article at the Inquirer, Cabuenas talks about the complaints people still have about the bad roads of the province. These roads do not only make traveling literally a pain in the posterior, it is also beginning to hurt the pockets of some transport operators. Cabuenas interviews a bus operator who thought that switching from operating jeepneys to buses would save him money only to be overwhelmed by the high maintenance costs caused by the bad roads. Then there’s a comment by a priest, Dan Gañas, who said that Eastern Samareños are the country’s safest drivers because they, “could not drive fast in the dilapidated highways.”
The problem would have been at least partially solved, according to the report, with as much as 600 million Pesos already allocated for the rehabilitation of Eastern Samar’s roads. However, the bidding and the release order for those funds have been delayed due to, “some technical problems,” according to Pacita Gavan, the former district engineer who is now assigned at the regional district office.
You can read the entire article by going to the Inquirer.net website.

first, i don’t agree nga di naasenso it eastern samar. butchok should doesn’t see the most obvious - natikag-upay la ngan natikadamo it sarakyan hit mga politiko ha bug-os probinsiya. isn’t that development? second, i also disagree han iya siring nga diri damo it ginkakakitaan hit at mga tawo. buta ka ba,butchok? ada an swertres, holdap, pag-casual, ngan pag-pion ha mga construction. nag-diversify na it income sources hit at mga tawo. diversification is the by-word these days and the secret to prosperity. kun maestra ka dapat magin vendor ka daman. kun parag-uma ka dapat mabaro ka magpataya. kun politiko ka dapat magin contractor ka gihap. gets, butchok?
