GMA to Visit Eastern Samar Tomorrow
By Ced Solidon • Sep 29th, 2008 • Category: Events, NewsPresident Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo is set to go on an official trip tomorrow to Eastern Samar that will take her to almost the entire stretch of the province.
Her first stop will be at the town of Arteche to inaugurate the Catumsan-Aguinaldo farm-to-market road. Aside from that, she will also conduct an aerial inspection of the Arteche network road project which will link the provinces of Eastern, Western and Northern Samar.
From Arteche, Mrs. Arroyo will proceed to Balangiga to lead the wreath-laying ceremony at the statue of Capt. Valeriano Abanador. Abanador was the leader of the Filipinos who raided the American camp in Balangiga on September 28, 1901, an event which is now called the ‘Balangiga Encounter Day.’
After her trip to Balangiga, Mrs. Arroyo will then go to the Calicoan Island in Guiuan in the afternoon. There, she will hold her cabinet meeting which will discuss several issues ranging from promoting Calicoan as a surfing destination, to mapping out anti-poverty strategies for the province, to addressing the issue of the contaminated milk imported from China.
