Killing of Samar Broadcaster Condemned
By Ced Solidon • Dec 5th, 2008 • Category: NewsThe Bishops of Samar Island along with politicians and organizations condemned the killing of broadcaster Leo Mila in Catarman, Northern Samar on December 2.
A resolution was drafted the next day during the 9th Samar Island Partnership for Peace and Development (SIPPAD) condemning the murder. It was signed by the three bishops along with other participants of the assembly.
The National Union of Journalists of the Philippines (NUJP) also released a similar statement yesterday. According to them, Mila is the 7th journalist murdered this year and the 62nd since 2001 when Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo became president.
Meanwhile, several politicians from Northern Samar raised a bounty of P100,000 for anyone who could provide information leading to the arrest of the killers.
