A New Year And A New Look For Sinirangan.com
By Ced Solidon • Jan 1st, 2009 • Category: Announcements
Happy new year, everyone! And we’ll celebrate the new year here at the site with a brand new website. For the lack of a good name to call it, let’s call it Sinirangan.com version 2.
As you see, the layout’s a bit different yet familiar. We hope that it makes everything easy to find while giving the website that old familiar feel.
So what’s new with the site? Let me list them down for you:
1. Easier navigation. As you see, there are already two navigation bars at the upper part of the page. The orange bar lists the same old pages. Chat, Archives, About, Contribute, Links, Contact Us and Subscribe. And why is the subscribe button blue? That’s to make it more visible and entice more people to subscribe.
Now how about the gray bar? They are the list of categories that the posts fall under. So if you’re looking for sidays, for example, simply click on the Arts page and you’ll see the list of sidays that were already posted. Looking for videos? Click on the videos category and you’ll find all the videos we posted.
You can also see the latest post on each category by scrolling down on the main page. All categories are neatly organized so you’ll be able to see them immediately.
2. Easier to contribute content. Wanted to share your stuff on the blog but found it a hassle to register? Now we made it easier. You can now send your content contributions via e-mail. Of course, full credit goes to you. This page will show you how.
Of course, if you’re already registered then you can still contribute content the old way. The great thing is that you get the byline on every post you make. And if you want, you can even have your pictures at the author information below each post.
And what’s great is that you can contribute whatever you think is worth sharing to the site’s visitors. Got your own music that you want to share? Write about it and post it here! Got poems, short stories and the like? Send them in! How about news tips, videos and news? Send them to us as well!
3. It’s now a community blog. Before, the site was called the Eastern Samar Team Blog, but we’re now a community blog. Why is it so? That is because every Estehanon is a part of this blog and is welcome to contribute content here. So don’t be shy to share your talents or what you have to say on this blog.
What happens to the team? We’re still intact and we’ll make sure that the blog runs as smoothly as it should and that you can expect a steady stream of fresh content from us.
But that’s not all. More new stuff are coming to the blog. Here are a few that you can expect.
1. The Eastern Samar Community Forums. It’s where you can talk about anything and everything related (even things that aren’t related) to Eastern Samar. It’s going to be fun so watch out for it! Right now, I amĀ setting it up and it will be available in two weeks or less. I’ll keep you posted about it.
2. Regular chat schedules. We’re all familiar with this site’s chat page. Unfortunately, I was unable to set up schedules where we can all go online at one time to meet and chat. This year, we’ll make it happen. I’ll be putting up regular chat schedules and hopefully we can tag along some important people in the chat. Again, I’ll keep you posted.
We’ll that would be it for now. And since the template’s new, you might find bugs here or errors so report them to me ASAP using the contact form or by sending me an e-mail at info @ sinirangan.com. You may also use the comment box below.
Again, happy new year everyone. I hope you have a blessed and prosperous year!
