By Fhen Macabasag • Feb 13th, 2009 • Category: ArtsKamakahurobya man paghinulat han adlaw
Labi na nga us ka bulan an pag-iinuran.
Say ko nakikit-an an nasarang nga lawag
Han natipakan nga hasag
Di ko lugod natutudyan an nagpupukat-pukat nga bitoon
syahan nagbeberde katima nag-aasul
ngan nagrorosa ngan nagpupurula
Nga ini tultolan ko pakadto ha amon
Say ko hinkikit-an malanit nga bisibis
Nga daw sugob natagak ug nausok ha kalawdan
Di ko lugod nasisiplatan an mga kagitgitan
Nga natabok ha kalangitan
Say ko nakakasugat busag nga ngipon han balud
primero matangdo kahuman mabaribad
ngan matangdo ngan mabaribad na liwat
Diri ko lugod nabibiling an isla han Homonhon
An iya mabaysay nga tuna mina ngan kabakhawan
Kahubsak paghinulat han adlaw balitaw
Bisan pa man baliktaron an kalibotan
Ngan kun san-o maundang inin uran
Pastilan, kun maaram la ak!
English translation:
Fisherman Pedro lost in the Sea
It’s tedious waiting for the light to come
Especially when the monsoon rain
Keeps falling for one full month
I only see your petromax’s
Broken light in the sea
But finds no twinkling star
first green then blue
pink and red
This my guide to our village
I only notice the heavy rain
Like spears strike into the waters
But glimpses no gitgit bird
Crossing in the heaven
I only perceive white teeth
Of violent waves
first it would say “Yes” then “No”
“Yes” again and “No”
But finds no Homonhon island
Her beautiful shore, minerals and bakhaw trees
It’s tedious really waiting for the light to come
Though the world turns upside-down
And as to when the rain will stop falling
Pastilan, I wish I knew!
